2026 Enrollment Information
Open enrollment is one of the most rewarding times of the year — it’s your chance to take a fresh look at your benefits, make sure they still fit your life, and make any changes that could make a real difference for you and your family. Whether you’re thinking about evaluating your life insurance coverage, updating your health insurance to better match your evolving medical needs, or signing up for a new health savings and spending account, open enrollment is the perfect opportunity to do it. Getting familiar with how the process works means you can walk in feeling confident and ready to make the best choices for your coverage. Read on and we’ll walk you through everything.
How Open Enrollment Works
Think of open enrollment as your annual benefits check-in. During this window, you can enroll in or make changes to health insurance, life insurance, dental insurance, and other employee benefits.
Here are some of the adjustments you can make to your benefits during open enrollment:
- Enroll in new benefits
- Select different coverage levels, such as individual or family plans
- Choose between the different plans that Uplift Education offers
- Sign up for or adjust your contributions to a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA)
- Modify or update your current coverage, such as increasing your coverage amounts or adding beneficiaries

Making Changes After Open Enrollment Closes
Once Open Enrollment closes, your benefit elections are locked in for the rest of the plan year. In most cases, you will not be able to make changes until the next Open Enrollment period.
The exception: Qualifying Life Events (QLEs)
A Qualifying Life Event is a significant change in your life circumstances that allows you to update your benefits outside of Open Enrollment. If you experience a QLE, you may be eligible to make mid-year changes to your coverage.
Common examples of Qualifying Life Events include:
- Marriage or divorce
- Birth or adoption of a child
- Death of a dependent
- Loss of other health coverage
- Gaining coverage through another source
- A change in your employment status or hours
You have 30 days from the date of your QLE to submit benefit changes. Changes requested after this window generally cannot be accepted until the next Open Enrollment period.
To request a mid-year change due to a QLE, submit an iHelp ticket or contact the HR team directly at people@uplifteducation.org.
